I think I mentioned before the Olympics began how good the BBC's "idents" where, they where based on the TV show from the 70's "Monkey"... anyway it turns out they where produced by the team behind "The Gorrilaz" - Damon Albarn (Musician) and Jamie Hewlett (Cartoonist)... and not only that, they are producing an opera again based on "Monkey"... see below for several videos inc. interviews. and the Olympics videos.

I'm sorry, the original 'Monkey' series was cult viewing for me in the 70s, quite unlike anything I'd ever seen. I doubt if anything could do it justice! :-)

i saw the documentary the bbc did on the opera and it looked quite amazing
what seemed most beautiful to me was watching the transformation of Damon into a composer
Having been asked to compose the music for this opera no directly relevent experience, training not really being a composer you watched as he emersed himself in the task and as such he became a composer
