A hangover is due partly to poisoning by the toxic chemicals into which alcohol is converted by the body and the other components of the alcoholic drink, and partly to the body's reaction to withdrawal from alcohol. The symptoms of a hangover are similar to those of withdrawal, namely a throbbing headache, nausea, and maybe even vomiting. Thus consuming more alcohol ("hair of the dog") may help by blunting some of these symptoms, but will only aggravate the symptoms once the liver breaks the alcohol down, because the body will have additional toxins to deal with.
So... for years the money-men and fat-cats have gorged themselves at the expense of the world... they have been drunk on wealth and power... now the hangover has finally kicked in! It seems that the US Congress thinks that it might be time for them to go cold turkey... would an economic "
hair of the dog" be the best things... it's obvious that the "Free Market", if it ever really existed - which I doubt, is no more, so perhaps rather than trying to prop up the banks we need to think more radically about the future, not just about the fat-cat banks but about the whole cash culture... Jubilee anyone?

Mark, while I share your wish for the end of the economy of oppression, I am afraid I cant share your optimism. My view is that there is too much power and money still tied into this system, while cracks may be appearing - the rumours of capitalism's demise are somewhat unfounded.
There is an awful lot of power and money still floating around, whole countries basing their economic security on the output of their companies. This aint over yet, not by a long chalk. In my reckoning some failures will be allowed to streamline the process, and then when some of the players have been culled, the ones that are left will restore the status quo.

I like your thinking Mark.
