... it's nice to hear some positive reflections from Lambeth... Brian Mclaren writes...
My sense is that the quiet, prayerful, and humble patience of Archbishop Rowan Williams is leading the way to better days for the Anglican Communion. It feels like the bishops gathered here are turning a corner together. I feel that I'm witnessing the emergence of something good, beautiful, true, and blessed ... Hearts here are sincerely open to the Spirit of God.NB... the title of this post is supposed to be read with your tongue firmly in your cheek ;-)

You know, I read Mclaren's comments on Williams and Lambeth and they struck me as well...I am not sure what...but I think the closest I can come to is 'spin.' All is not well in the Anglican communion. To be sure, Williams is very shrewd indeed, but I think there is a sense in which it is fair to say that there is a slice of the bishops that are happy to drive the wedge in deeper in hopes of a formal split.
After all, they are already happy to take in defecting congregations into their own structures. What goodfaith does that show? They even formed their own 'shadow Lambeth' in anticipation of the real thing. How does that show good faith?
