In an interview with The Times, Bush says that he regrets using words like “bring them on” and “dead or alive” as he now thinks that these kind of statements might have “indicated to people that I was, you know, not a man of peace”... excuse the language but, no shit Sherlock! He says "I think that in retrospect I could have used a different tone, a different rhetoric.”... trouble is George it doesn't matter how many pretty ribbons and coats of paint you put on them a bomb is a bomb! I suppose at least he admits his rabble rousing and nationalist/imperialist tub thumping has been unhelpful to the world, though I suspect he is more worried about his historical legacy and trying to draw a line under his administration for the sake of Mcain! Bottom line is he said those things, no one stopped him and even worse he went on to turn his words into actions... he/they should have known better and no amount of regrets, real or political will change them.

it is very sobering isn't it when our unwise or unkind words come back to haunt us
