The Daily Scribe is no more... it seems that the owner of the address, Shawn, has had an Evangelical Epiphany... as such he does not feel able to be part of a project/blog which aggregates blogs from a variety religions. As owner/founder, he decided that rather than hand it over to another he would simply shut it down... some have called this the electronic equivalent of book burning... I guess I understand both positions... having gone through the debate of hosting a Mind*Body*Spirit Fair... Shawn's commitment to his (new-found) principles is honourable, and so I respect his decision... but my gut reaction is that it is a shame that he has done this, as it is important that we listen and learn from all sorts of people, whether we agree with them or not... I have always been concerned and uncomfortable with ghetto mentality, the kind of fear based theology that says we must be separate because a) we may be tempted by others and/or b) we should try to protect others from being exposed to other ideas... I struggle with this, mainly because it seems to paint a picture of a pretty weak God... which seems paradoxical with another strain of Evangelical theology, that of triumphalism! Bottom line is that the blogs will still be there, but if it Shawn feels unable to give the Scribe away, fair enough... for me though, it was a good step in promoting conversation over preaching and learning over confrontation.
Oh well, it has introduced me to a whole new section of the blogosphere... and if we only read blogs from 'our' tradition it will be no different from any other self-serving conversation - unreflective, uncritical and ultimately DULL!
... oh and the Daily Scribe got me my first referral from a Witch's Blog :-D

Hi Mark - I agree I really appreciated getting to know other bloggers from other traditions, I learned a lot about other viewpoints that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
I am also glad you were in Scribe - I've appreciated your blog for some time.
