I'm working on our weekly meditation for tomorrow night, it going to be based on a prayer called 'Willingness' by David Ridge
Let my heart be the vessel of God's Love.In some ways this prayer is a 'vow', a statement of willingness and commitment... the plan is to spend some time reflecting on each part [heart - passion, thoughts - concerns, words - relationships, actions - incarnation] ... each line will be accompanied by an act of meditation/reflection and of commitment. [update] click each word for a pdf page with a simple reflection/action to accompany each line.Let my thoughts be the blossom of God's Love.
Let my words be the expression of God's Love.
Let my actions be the fulfillment of God's Love.
what happens when we live God's way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard-things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good - crucified. Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives : from Galatians 5 (The Message)Closing with this trappist declaration...
this is who I am -That's about as far as I've got... this morning I had my haircut... and this afternoon/evening I've been filming with the Beeb! There'll no doubt be some music and visuals too!
image of God -
born of God's breath -
vessel of divine Love -
after his likeness -
dwelling of God -
capacity for the infinite -
eternally known -
chosen of God -
home of the Infinite Majesty -
abiding in the Son -
called from eternity -
life in the Lord -
temple of the Holy Spirit -
branch of Christ -
receptacle of the Most High -
wellspring of Living Water -
heir of the kingdom -
the glory of God -
abode of the Trinity -
eternally in his Word -
this is who I am
