Church Deconstructed forcibly!

A different kind of Deconstruction of Church... and one that is not so welcome!  When oh when will the western governments (you know who I mean!) start treating human rights seriously and not simply as a political weapon... were the human rights abuses in Iraq worse than those in China... I don't think so!!!

Important - Greenbelt Details

There seems to have been some confusion over our Service at Greenbelt 06... the confusion was that on the line-up I was sent there were two Sundays... and no Monday!  It has become apparent through closer examination that pay[back] free[dom] will in fact be on Monday morning (not Sunday) from 9-10am - so... if you were planning to make the trip specifically... ooops!

Changes and an additon

I have just taken advantage of a (new-ish) setting on TypePad to display the Categories as a Tag Cloud... and, for a bit of fun, I've added a 'Chat' Widget on the sidebar... this is just cause often when I am on-line there are others here... and I always feel like saying ... "hello... and welcome" ... so now I can, and so can you!

Confession...

...today I betrayed my principles :(  I felt I needed to make this confession public, today I played Golf (for the first time EVER)!  I know, I know... I feel dirty!  Thanks to Jem and James, I played 9 holes on a baking course at Horsehay in Telford... and... worse... it was good fun... & now I feel an urge to by a pink Argyle sweater and yellow trousers... BTW I managed 65 over the 9 holes... even managed to score 1 over par on three holes! and kept it down to single figures on every hole!  Please pray for me!

Benedictine Baptist Blogger

Here's a new blog... maybe even a new blogger... I picked up this link through Technorati - we had kindly been added to the Blogroll and Technorati had picked up the permanent link (details for new Technorati users who have been convinced to claim their blog by the post below ;-) )... anyway, it looks interesting for those of us exploring new-monasticism, indeed anyone exploring all sorts of monasticism... The Benedictine Baptist is posting reflections on rules of Benedictine community... it looks like he is off to Scotland for a break... but here is another voice in a growing conversation who will no doubt bring deeper richness to it.

TypePad & Technorati

For those TypePad users who don't want to use another bit of software (eg. Ecto) or edit the html in order to assign tags to your posts... you can now!  Just go to the 'Compose' page...  at the bottom, under the Trackback box, click 'Customise this page'... now tick the box for Technorati tags... voila, now you can add tags (there will be a box under the post box)... now, go over to Technorati and 'Claim' your Blog!

New version of Arkaos

Arkaos 3.6 is available (free upgrade for those who have registered a new copy in 2006 - 270euros for those who haven't! you do get three licenses for that though)  The new version has more effects (some very cool ones like an ASCII generator, colour invert, strobes and more transitions) which are easier to access and understand... more of them are able to be assigned to keys on their own (which means they can be applied on top of whatever video you have live, allowing multiple effects etc.  especially good if you use a camera feed as well).

A plea to Wikipedia members

Laura asked in a comment whether in the light of recent conversations anyone had read the Wikipedia entry on Emerging Church... my answer was no... Now I guess no EC types need to go there to find out about the EC... but others must do... so, firstly the article starts with a reasonable look at the values and characteristics... but it goes downhill from there... the worst bit is that there is a plethora of links to critical articles and books, but pretty much nothing to any positive articles and the absence of the books we all know and love (well mostly) is incredible... so here's the plea... if you are a contributing member PLEASE go and edit the article... and at least add some decent books... someone somewhere (try the Skinny) must have done a decent book list... in fact I'm pretty sure I've read and linked to some in the not too distant past!
