I'm currently at St. Lawrence in Reading a Town Centre (a missional church) for Resource... spending the weekend thinking about leadership in 'Emerging Church'. We looked at different models of leadership (in particular models of Church Planting) this morning. I really struggle with linear/process models of leadership, I am just not that kind of person, I a more in tune with organic thought, with chaos... I began to think about a moment Jem and I experienced on the quay at Brandon's Creek last week. We stood, right at the end of the quay, with eyes closed, facing the ocean... the wind was driving spray into our faces, the waves crashing into the cliffs... We began to talk about what we were feeling... I was struck by the thought that often we see danger as an obstacle to be overcome, fear as an attack from whoever, whatever and wherever... yet the danger, the discomfort & the fear, here in the face of the wind, the weather and the waves was a natural part of creation... the wildness, the struggle, the chaos are just as much a part of the natural, the divine order as the cooling breeze on a summers day, or the sparkling clarity of a winter sunrise... just as much to be welcomed and embraced! Chaos is where creation happens... Comfort is where creativity stagnates!

Hey mark
on the saturday morning of resource you said something about preperation/planing for planting that could be more like rehersing missional moves or church planting reflexes. Just wondering if you could elaborate more on what that means and what then the disciplines of a missional Karate are.
